WAGFEST: you know you want to

SATURDAY JUNE 20!
What’s a WagFest?
WagFest is a fun way to help raise money for special PAWS programs, specifically two new initiatives — PAWS Dog Adoption Days and the PAWS Visiting Therapy Dog program. WagFest is also a celebration of all things dog and great fun for families and their pets!
It is also a shining moment of wish-fulfillment for yrs truly. Why? Because I get to be a celebrity judge at the costume contest. My fellow judges are Rep. Sherry Appleton and famous pet painter, Cynthia Dice. I kid you not. I intend to take my duties very seriously. Barkis is counting on me. I need your advice. What does a celebrity judge wear???
In addition to a 1.5-mile fundraising walk, this benefit event will feature all sorts of doggie demonstrations, activities, vendors, and contests — watch this space for schedules and descriptions as the event draws nearer.
What Will I Do There?

Kid’s Activities
K9 Freestyle Dancing
Microchip Clinic
Flyball Demo
1.5 Mile Dog Walk
Rally Obedience Demo
Vendors
Costume Contest
Canine Good Citizen Test
Educational Demos
Photo/Costume Booth
Talent Contest

To join in, see below. To donate to save the animals, go here.
The Microchip clinic will be from 10am – 1pm. $20.00 fee. Why Microchip your pet? Over 127,000 lost pets have been reunited with their owners thanks to microchipping. No method is perfect, but more identification dramatically increases the odds of finding a lost companion.

Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Program
The CGC is a certification program designed to reward dogs that have good manners at home and in the community.  All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.  If your dog can pass the CGC test, you are only 4 exercises away from having a certified Therapy Dog! Read more….
A Canine Good Citizen test will be held at WagFest at 11:00.  If you are interested in participating in the test, please contact Judith Bell of BeauJes Dog Training at 360-797-7979 or email[email protected]. We only have room to test 20 dogs at the WagFest so sign up now!

  1. LOL ~ I love that Susan gave driving directions but didn’t post the date: Saturday, June 20.

Although I’ve never seen you in a hat, I think of the Brits when I think of dogs. . .Brits love their hats as much as their dogs. I’ve also never seen you wear ugly shoes, but the judges in dog competitions always seem to wear ugly shoes.

The weather will be relatively cool and the ground may be squishy if we get the forecasted rain. So, I’d recommend shoes that won’t sink in the grass, a long, stylish jacket, and slacks. . .hat optional.

It might be fun to accessorize with that treat bag.

  3. I find all of this so interesting and such a great heart felt program. When I was a little girl, my mother owned and operated a grooming shop for hard to handle dogs. Some of them were abussed by previous owners or were hurt by accident. She was so gentle with them and taught me to be loving to animals as well. She also trained dogs on the side for her clients. She trained horses as well and taught me how to ride when I was only 4 years old. Animals are such a sweet gift to have in your life.

As far as what to wear, I think the hat will be a nice touch to a nice dress. Think Pretty Woman, when Julia Roberts and Richard are at the polo game. What do you think? I loved her poka-dotted dress! Might not be good for rain though, come to think of it.

Please post some pictures! And have a great time Susan!

  5. Looks like loads of fun for everyone concerned! I like the polka-dotted dress idea. Rain or shine, polka dots are fashionable. Whatever you think about “hat” or “no hat”… But hey–if it rains, how about a hat shaped like an umbrella? Those are classy. 😉

      1. What a great dress! I love the sweater/dress sandle combo. That would make a great outfit as well. I like the animal print idea too.

Nice display of books. I know the author from somewhere??!!!?? Just kidding. I love bookstores, they are my weakness, especially when a good book is on display.

Have a great day, Susan. As for me I a going to go spend some time just staring at the rain. The rainy season started here yesterday and after 8 months of not seeing rain, I feel like the depths of my soul has been refreshed! Here’s an interesting fact for you. Because of the rainy season, (and lack of) did you know that Mexico has over 365 shades of green. It is simply beautiful.
