The dog ate my copy edit.

No, really, he did. There’s something about those little copy edit flags he can’t resist. (A copy edit is an almost-final once-over on the manuscript. The copy editor indicates her comments and queries with sticky flags that say things like “she walked through the door 3x on this pg.” or “this is the 13th month of her pregnancy.” Somehow, the CE resists adding, “moron.”)

mmmm....so meaty

  1. My dog doesn’t get to eat copy edits since we do it electronically. I’m not going to let him see your blog, Susan. Right now he doesn’t know what he’s missing.

  3. Susan, after reading your daughter’s delightful blog yesterday, I can see where she gets her sense of humor. You pack so much in so few words. Your post had me laughing out loud. Adore the Doberman nose and feet. I do think this is Barkis’s way of saying, “Mom, you’re spending too much time on this paper stuff and not enough time on me.”

Oh, and thanks to you, Susan, I have a name for my new Boxer puppy: Asterisk (as in *) You had suggested Asterix, after the cartoon character, and that got me to thinking about punctuation, and . . . well, Asterisk seemed so appropriate. So thank you from little “Aster” and me.
