sweet

So the official wedding photos are done and they’re unbelievable. But I also love the snapshots from the wedding guests. This one is just so, so sweet.
father+brideI love the candid emotion. I love the clutching and the way my mother’s pearls look. I love the music (“Morning has Broken” was playing).
If you look closely you can see a bandaged cut on Jay’s hand. He is good at improvising. Here is his redneck bandaid:

Is there anything duct tape can't do?
Is there anything duct tape can't do?

It’s a good thing Jay only has to do this once because it was rough on him.

  1. OMG, I think my dad had the same expression on his face. He was totally dazed and kind of looked a little green. Both my parents walked me down the aisle. The photos are lovely. I loved the last one. It looked like a good time had by all.

  3. Ah, Jay is father, protector, fierce defender and Daddy to his beautiful little girl. Fathers have been the ‘only’ man in their little girl’s life until their little girl finds ‘the one.’ Dave must have many, many of the wonderful attributes Jay has for Elizabeth to know “this one is hers.” Jay must have been (is) a great model of a true man. Men have such soft hearts especially for their children. The photo says it all. Here comes the sun!

  5. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful day with us all. What a beautiful young couple they are, and oh the love that you can see in their eyes! It looked like a day that everyone there took part in and made it a true celebration! Congratulations!

  7. I have to agree with all the comments above. It was a gorgeous wedding, and they look wonderful together. I loved the music that went along with the slide show. As bad as the news has been lately, and with personal tragedies in our family, I’ve started wondering if there is any happiness left in the world for young people. Seeing your daughter’s wedding restored my hope, and brought a glimmer of sunshine into what has been a pretty gray season. Thank you so much for sharing something that personal with us.
I’m also a big fan, pre-order your books (c’mon October and “At The Queen’s Summons”) and love being able to lose myself in your words, not even aware of my fingers moving to turn the pages. It’s as close to a vacation as I get, and it’s always guaranteed to be magical but down to earth, provoke laughter as well as tears, and take me somewhere I didn’t even realize I wanted to go but am so very glad I did! (I swear I gained 10 lbs reading “Summer by the Sea” just from devouring the recipes in my mind!) Thank you for all you share. I truly treasure every word.
May your daughter and new son-in-law dwell in joy, laughter, and the richness of life spent with someone you deeply love.

    Sincerely, Janet Landis

  9. Wow what a beautiful celebration of love! I shed a few tears viewing the slideshow, that was so kind of you to allow us to see into what I consider such an intimate moment in some special people’s lives. You have such a gorgeous group of family and friends The bride & groom were oozing love for each other and their special guests. The photography is outstanding and I’m sure you must be pleased.
Loved the makeshift bandaid – that’s men for you! ๐Ÿ™‚
