This is probably my favorite daily e-mail. If you like books, subscribe. They’ll tell you what’s new, what’s hot, what’s interesting and what’s in the news.
Once a week, they pick a writer to be the “Book Brahmin,” and the answers always intrigue me. I got to be the Book Brahmin one day in March, and here are some of the questions and responses. I’ll post one or two over the next few days. Your mission–post your answers in Comments!
On your nightstand now:
SW: The Urban Outfitters catalog, a Clairefontaine notebook and pen, a tin of Bag Balm, a chapter of my work-in-progress, and The Irregulars: Roald Dahl and the British Spy Ring in Wartime Washington by Jennet Conant. I adore Roald Dahl, and I’m a sucker for true stories of heroic deeds in WWII.
Your turn: What’s on your nightstand?

Well my night stand right now has a Mary Balogh’s Comes Marriage, my reading lamp and all my nighttime rituals I have to do before I go to bed. Take my blood glugose and put my drops in my eyes. Plus a glass of water to take those nightime meds.
I also have a couple of Harlequins or Silouettes. Can’t remember the titles, so if I finish a book wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, I have something to read.

The book I’m reading in the house is Godmother: The Secret Cinderella Story by Carolyn Turgeon. The book I’m listening to on CD in my car is Just Breathe by someone you might know… 🙂 I’m loving it.

The 19th Wife, The Book Thief, Winter Rose, Shopaholic, my soap dish where I put my engagement ring when I’m not wearing it, and the bedside carafe that we just got as a wedding present from Dave’s cousin.

Book: Owned by an Eagle, by author and falconer Gerald Summers. A stack of movie DVDs. A jar of hand cream. A pencil cup with pens, pencils, highlighters, & Post-its. A clamp-on lamp for reading. Rubber stamping magazines. Mail order catalog. Flyswatter. Brut 66 aftershave. (Don’t ask–I love the smell & dab a bit on neck before going to sleep) Flashlight, due to numerous power outages. Wind-up alarm clock (I love the ticking sound) Backscratcher–for obvious reasons, and to retrieve things that fell under the bed. Hair scrunchie. And last but not least, my bible.
