I am grateful for more time before the snows come for the season – time to do those last minute winterizing projects.
I am grateful for being able to rehome horses to good homes instead of them going to slaughter in Mexico – it may be one at a time, but it is means the world to that one !
I am grateful for the cheery chirping of my zebra finch each morning.

Today I am reminded of how grateful I am for one of my friends in particular. She is 93, totally aware, alert, able to express herself, and still lives alone. She has broken both hips and is in an electric chair, but she takes care of herself and her dog, and is an absolute joy to be around. She inspires me so much. Jessie, I truly love you.
I am SO grateful for self-cleaning ovens! That’s probably self-explanatory.
I’m grateful that when I want a book and am physically unable to leave my house, I can go to my favorite online book store and shop, and I’ll have my book(s) within just a few short days. Heady stuff. (And it’s usually “books”, plural, because I’m seldom ever able to stop at only one!)
Susan, your slide show was great. Thanx for sharing with the rest of us.

PUPPIES!
PUPPIES!
I’ll add a “Me, too!” about being grateful for dogs, especially my dear sweet Bud and Maile.
I am grateful for Trixie Koontz (RIP) and her books that made me aware of Canine Companions for Independent Living–my favorite charitable organization.
I am grateful for the very nice clerk at the DMV this morning. 🙂

1. I am grateful for Kleenex. I’m old enough to remember when you had to use cloth handkerchiefs and wash them.
2. I am grateful for shadows and reflections. Right now, the sun is shining through the venetian blinds, making angled streaks on the wall. Earlier in the day the whiskey barrel tub filled with water and sitting on the porch created the most fascinating ripples and reflections on the wall. I love the mottled pattern of shadows and light caused when the sun shines through a tree’s leaves
3. I am grateful for caller I.D.

Susan, I thought your first photo looked familiar! After I posted my comment I followed your link to the NY Times article that identified Jeffrey Adams with Sharif, a graduate from Canine Companions for Independent Living! (CCI.org) So cool!

I am grateful to be inside in a warm house, under a warm blanket with a good book to read.
I am grateful to know that each time I call my mom and she answers I know that she is okay.
I am grateful hands are no too swollen today and I can write down my grateful thoughts.

1. Dogwalking on a glorious fall day after 48 hours of constant rain and gray.
2. Full moon that I can actually see (no cloud cover)!
3. My poor one-eyed doggy bashing into a chair leg with a yelp. This isn’t funny, but I’m grateful my dog is okay even though her sewed-shut eye socket swelled up. Looks like a typical shiner, which makes me smile — she’s the daintiest dog on the planet. Now she’s Miss Priss the Bruiser!
