November 12 gratitude

Three things I’m grateful for:
My writers’ group.
Teenagers! They are so funny and exuberant.
The magic of fiction. A novel released into the wild takes on a life of its own. We all got to see this when Suzanne’s YA novel, Saving Juliet, was adapted into a play and performed by Bainbridge Performing Arts. Here’s Suz at Intermission, surrounded by adoring fans:

  1. I’ve been reading every day and just surfing on, but today I’m not going to let myself. It’s time to join in.

    1. I am grateful for my new comfy bed, which replaced an air mattress that replaced a futon as hard as a brick that replaced an ancient bed that wasn’t much better.

    2. I am grateful for Mr. Pooh, who comes to wake me with an enormous purr and an enormous body to go with that. He wants to make sure we don’t forget to feed him (of course).

    3. I am grateful to my husband for making me tea almost every morning of our 26 year marriage.

  3. Today I’m grateful that I finally got the hang of posting to the page with the right date! It’s been sort of a chase to get here. At times I’m a bit slow, but I usually get where I’m going, eventually.
I’m grateful for my favorite radio station that plays easy listening classics that span the last 60 to 70 years. As long as I can hum to or sing along with most of what they play, I’m happy as a clam.
I’m also grateful for the phone call I got at 6 am, from #2 daughter, who just had to tell me she had done something she had struggled with for years. It is something important, and I’m so proud of her. Hearing about an accomplishment like that is worth getting up in what essentially is the middle of my night. I can sleep almost any time!

Hi Susan, how’s your arm today besides still there? I hope it gets better faster.

  5. Grateful to Susan for writing the following:

    1. The Firebrand – Lucy and Rand, Chicago Fire Trilogy, my favourite historical book.

    2. Summer at Willow Lake – Olivia & Connor, best visual with Olivia up the flag pole, opening chapter

    3. Just Breathe – Sarah & Will, the babies, Aurora, wonderful 1st chapter, very emotional

There are so many characters and scenes, hard to pick. Of course there is The You I Never Knew, Table For Five, ……. Find one that resonates with you and read it over again for a great escape from life’s rocks on the road.

  7. ok, so not so coordinated this afternoon……..ha, we will do this again.

I am grateful for Susan’s “Just Breathe” book – I gave it to my mom and she just loved it. I am a fan of anything that brings a smile to her face……

I am grateful for Starbucks in the Safeway market and their penchant for giving out samples – which today was their Peppermint Mocha Twist. Yummy !

I am grateful for the family that lives behind us on the 340 acres and their neighborly way of bringing me firewood, which is wonderful to use and keeps us warm and toasty now that the first snow has come…….

I am grateful to be alive and fairly healthy to be able to help my mom and my son through lifes challenges.

  9. 1. I am grateful for pinecones. I love their perfectly symmetrical shape, and how cleverly they produce seeds in their little crevices. I love how they morph from a tight green bud to a brown tree-shaped bit of nature.

    2. I am grateful for the colorful cat mobile hanging in my office that I made. It turns and spins lazily in the air currents and gives me great pleasure.

    3. I am grateful for the world globe on my desk that helps me with my geography and helps me locate places mentioned in the news. Studying the globe is as much fun as reading the dictionary. 3a. I’m grateful for my dictionary.

  11. naps in the middle of a lazy afternoon

instant messenger – I can keep in touch with so many people I would lose touch with otherwise

central heating – you don’t realize what a blessing it is until the temperature drops below freezing. With a flick of a switch you have heat, blessed heat. 🙂

  13. Today I am grateful

For having a good friend who home I can always go to when I need a place to lay my head for a night.

That I was able to be with my mother as she said a final goodbye to a dear cousin today and who with affection, my brothers and I called Uncle Tony and we all miss him dearly.

For having a boss who is understanding about why my illness is keeping me from returning to work and knowing that when I can i will have a job to return to.

    God bless you “Uncle Tony”

  15. 1. My book group: They give me such great feedback.
    2. The sound of rain pinging the umbrella.
    3. My immune systen — thought for sure I was coming down with a miserable cold instead of just a little one.
