Friends old and new

“We get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that’s so deeply a part of your being that you can’t even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. Perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless.”
– Paul Bowles (American Author)

I made some new friends last week when an online writers’ group stayed in my guest house. It was their first time to meet face to face, after getting to know each other so well through e-mail and reading each other’s manuscripts. I really admire these people–who convened here from far away–for giving themselves this experience. It’s a great reminder that we’re never too old to try new things. Ginny, SW, Rita, Mickey
And–bonus–Ginny is an amazing photographer. Stay tuned for a few more of her shots.

  7. Oops! I just posted a comment to the wrong date. Sigh.

Anyway, here I am, finally at your blog, which I always enjoy when I manage to get here. I’ve been so busy, overwhelmed, actually, ever since I saw you with Ginny and Micky in September.

How sweet of you to post a picture of us all. That was truly a lovely weekend, and your relaxed hospitality so soothing. Ever since then, I’ve been going non-stop–travel, family stuff, and the holidays. I’m still struggling to make the changes to my first book that I outlined in my roadmap (created during your great on-line class last summer, “Making a good book great.”) Stuff always gets in the way. Or, am I procrastinating?

During that weekend at your house I mentioned I was “behind” in your Lakeside Chronicles, having only read “Summer at Willow Lake.” (Did I get the title right? No matter, I remember the book soooo well.) Anyway, now it’s winter, so I get to read “The Winter Lodge.” I just couldn’t read it in summer, lol. Now I get to veg out by the fire and enjoy this book. Since I’ve gone and caught a dang cold, I’m going to treat myself to a good book. Yours!

Hope your holidays were great. I’m looking forward to the rest of the chronicles, and ALSO to the publication of “Just Breathe” this year.

    Here’s a hug for you!

    Rita
