November 21 gratitude

November 21, 2008

Three things I’m grateful for:

its whats for breakfast
it's what's for breakfast
  1. Awrey’s Corn Toastums for breakfast
  2. Christmas books! I’ve been devouring them this season. I love reading other writers’ visions of Christmas.
  3. how cute Jay looks when he inadvertently puts together a great outfit, like today’s argyle sweater and Chuck Taylor hightops

What are you grateful for today?

  • –Today I am grateful for Google Earth.

–I am grateful for the wonderful new soup recipe I tried today: Italian Tortellini Soup, with chicken, chicken broth, alfredo sauce, 3-cheese tortellini, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh baby spinach. Hearty and delicious.

–am grateful that the gummy sore throat I woke up with was NOT caused by coming down with a cold, but from snoring with my mouth open.

  • I’m grateful today that I’m able to begin shopping for our Thanksgiving dinner.
I’m grateful that we’ll have three guests in our home for dinner next week.
I’m grateful that I could have lunch with my 93 year old friend today. She doesn’t eat much, so we share a fish sandwich and she has a kid-sized strawberry shake. It’s enough for a while; then we crochet together, talk and laugh. It’s our standing Friday thing, and it’s good for both of us. I returned a can opener to WalMart for her today. She didn’t have the receipt, and I told the customer service lady that my friend probably figured the can opener would outlast her, so she wouldn’t need the receipt. That was good for a laugh, and a cheerful refund. I love to help people laugh. I think it’s good exercise for the spirit!

  • I’m grateful for the pretty snow..but not enough of it to have to shovel!

I’m grateful for being invited to Brenda Novak’s online Christmas party

I’m grateful I figured out how to dress my avatar(strange! VERY strange these avatars!) for Brenda’s party and that she looks quite chic, if I do say so myself :o))

  • Today I am thankful for having a good friend call me to see how I was feeling and for asking me if I needed any thing from the store, she would run out and get if for me seeing how I am still under the weather.

I am grateful to the inventor of Kleenex, as I have been using this invention by the box this week.

I am grateful for the sun that shone through my windows today.

  • 1. Sage advice from Elizabeth Engstrom.
    2. Running into a fellow spaniel-owning dogwalker friend and receiving a sympathetic ear.
    3. Junk-foody, extra-decadent Christmas mochas from Starbuck’s (and I don’t like Starbuck’s — but its version of coffee hit the spot today — like candy!)

  • Fuze… mmmm… Fuze.

The way things seem to slow down at work before the holidays

My sister’s for being so completely different.

  • 1) Susan Wiggs (*G*) for mentioning her thankfulness of the Google Reader as then I had to check it out… I’m liking it and find it’s much more easier to keep track of blogs!

    2) Dolce de Leche International Creamer… *swoon* so yummy

    3) My electric blanky on my bed 😀 I no longer have to get into a cold bed!

  • I am grateful that there is hope for my mom’s back/nerve situation 🙂 Excellent trip to Reno, very happy we found this doctor.

I am grateful that I have the support of good friends.

I am grateful that Reno has this very cool place – it is the National Museum of the Automobile. A joy to behold, with a 47 split window VW sedan too ! My son soaked up every bit of information and took wonderful photos. Quite a treat for people who live in a town with a population of around 2000 !

  • I so don’t know how you’re doing this everyday. I decided to just do a list all at once instead of daily, and I’m having trouble populating it.

Most of my gratitudes have to do with TV and food. I’m not sure what that says about me.

Today, I’m grateful that it’s Friday. After last night, I need a weekend. The baby wouldn’t sleep for more than a couple of hours at a time before crying because she missed us. She’s been super needy lately. I’m hoping it’s just a phase.

I’m grateful for hot chocolate even the instant kind.

I’m also grateful for my co-workers who don’t think I’m the devil even though I’m the only Democrat on staff. They think I’m part of why the world is going to hell, but I’m not the devil. 🙂 Kidding. It’s all good fun here. I don’t rub it in that my party won and they don’t hate me. It’s a good deal.

  • I’ve been lax about posting my list here, but I’ve been keeping up on my own blog. Today’s list for me (after going to a local indie bookstore and hearing Michael Connelly speak last night)

    1. Teachers, so many of whom go the extra mile for their students
    2. Urban Think! Bookstore for its support of Page 15
    3. Hubby for driving.
