"The Ocean Between Us"
 
   I've just finished reading The Ocean Between Us. I couldn't put it down. Great job depicting the life of a Navy family. Its not the life for everyone, but I miss it every day. It was my story with a few minor changes. I did have to stop at Chapter 40 and take a break, it was like looking into the mirror of my past-26 years ago. I'm a new fan and look forward to many more exciting reads.

   I too thought this was a wonderful book, its been a while since I've read it so I really should revisit it very soon. I can't imagine what life would be like having a partner in the Navy.

I was so impressed with the military spouses I met and interviewed while writing that book. Truly they are unsung heroes and heroines.

Hi Grannie: I just had to respond to your post. I just finished"The Ocean Between Us today and loved it. I have not been in the armed services myself but my son in law is a staff sergeant in the Army and even though they(my dtr and him) are young as Grace and Steve were in the beginning, they do deal with TDY's and deployments. I thought the book was great, well written, and there were a few times I felt like Grace's statements mirrored my own. This book was awesome, and Ms Wiggs is an author extraordinaire.

   I am actually rereading this story right now. It is one of my favorites. My dad spent 20 years in the military on carriers and my husband was in a short while until he was medically separated. You did such a great job of depicting the issues that both wivies and children go through in a military family. As my dad always said, the Navy would crumble without the support of the Navy wives (and now even husbands).

Thank you for such a great story.
