Naomi,I am just about finished with The Manning Sisters. That is Debbie Macombers new reprint.
I don't know how I missed these books of hers when they first came out.
It is a treat to read a couple of short love stories.

I'm reading SIZZLING by Susan Mallery (excellent) and when I finish, I've got ALLISON'S AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR MANUAL by Brad Barkley. It's about a young widow who grieves while restoring a classic Corvette. Looks yummy!

This book was recommended to me by using the "readalike" service on NoveList through my library web site.

I really enjoyed the Buchanan series by Susan Mallery. She's a great author.

Oh, do tell us about Allison's Automotive Repair Manual. I do a lot of grief/loss work with my clients and am always looking for good fictional books to recommend. And I like a good story.

I liked the Buchannans as well.

Naomi, did you ever read Lolly Winston's Good Grief? I haven't read the follow-up, but I really liked that one.

I'm not really reading anything right now. I'm halfway through Stephen Colbert's I Am America (And So Can You!) and have Nora Roberts's Carolina Moon to be read. The weekend went by too quickly to read!

Just finished two books: Debbie Macomber's "The Manning Sisters". I'm also done with Nora Roberts, Taming Natasha and Luring a Lady. This year the Stanislaki series is being reissued.

Both good reads!

April, I did read Good Grief and I really liked it. I had no idea there was a follow-up book out. I guess I'll have to look for that.

I didn't read much this weekend either. It was too sad and we had to get things ready for the drywall guy to come in and start mudding and taping in the new hallway, office and renovated bathroom today.

I did pick up Connie Brockway's newest - Skinny Dipping and started it. I'm not very far, but am enjoying so far. I think I may actually get around to The Opposite of Fate by Amy Tan. I've had it ever since you picked it up for me last year.

That was kind of misleading. It's her second book. It's not related to Good Grief. Happiness Sold Separately is the title. I haven't read it yet actually.

Oh, and Love is a Mix Tape is not necessarily about grief, but it is non-fiction by a writer from Rolling Stone about his wife who passed away. It's by Rob Sheffield, I believe.

I have The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan from YEARS ago left to read.

I am reading Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis and am almost finished Karen Marie Moning's second book in her Fever series - Bloodfever. It's a nice easy read with a lot of Irish lore and light and dark Fae thrown in for good measure.

I'm looking forward to a book Susan talked about earlier. My library had a copy of Alison's Automotive Repair Manual by Brad Barkley. It's due in two weeks so I may read some of the books I have due in a week first.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It's a nice easy read, which I need right now as I'm also trying to slog through She's Come Undone. Darn those Oprah book club picks and my bookclub eating them up. *sigh*

Well, I've read a few books recently. Most notable are Opposite of Fate by Amy Tan, which I really enjoyed. The book made me want to watch The Joy Luck Club again. This is definitely going on my keeper shelf and I know I'll refer back to it at times.

I'm about two thirds of the way through Accidentally Yours by Susan Mallery. It has her trademark humor with a nice mix of poignancy and an interesting subplot. I think the sub plot could be a bit more developed and there's one aspect to the storyline that, while it makes sense, feels odd. Still, a highly entertaining story. I'm waiting to see what happens at the end, because there is the potential that this will be a very sad story. Or a very happy one. We'll see.

Right now I am searching for "Snowfall at Willow Lake" hoping someone around here would jump the gun and display it early. So far no such luck!

So I am reading Luanne Rice's "The Perfect Summer"

Since Christmas I have been on a strange kick. It is something like sap rising in the sugar maples in the early spring..

First, I read "Good-Bye, Boise... Hello Alaska by Cora Holmes". It was published by Country Books. I think it originally appeared in Contry magazine. Cora is was a 33 year old mother of two boys and a neonatal nurse in Boise when she saw an ad for a housekeeper/secretary for a 200 square mile ranch on the Island of Unalaska. The ranch provides meat to the CRAB fishing fleet (Deadliest Catch on Discovery channel)that is based in Dutch Harbor on the other end of the island.

At one time the ranch was owned and operated by a small family woolen mill from the northwest - I think it was named "Pendelton".

Then I reread some old favorites by Brad and Vena Angier. They wrote a series of books like "How to Live in the Woods on $10/week", "We Like It Wild!", "At Home in The Woods", etc. Brad was an editor for a a entertainment publicaton in Boston. Vena was an ex-ballerina and dance instructor he was dating. He proposed to her ...and said he had to go spend a year in the woods to get it out of his system.

She said "Let's Go!" ...and after a year they both wanted to stay... Their adventure s made for a lot of great arm chair adventure ...and feed a lust I feel deep in my bones.

I ordered Snowfall from Amazon and still don't have it. Last year they sent Susan's new release to me before anyone else had it. The shipping estimate was February 4. Sigh.

Debby69....I'm reading re-reading the Nora Roberts Dream series too! I'm on Kate's story, Holding The Dream.

To fill in the gaps (Hint, hint Susan) I'll be re-reading the McKade Brothers series by Nora; in the meantime, I'll be hunting down the used book stores for Susan's past books

I am almost done with Daring to Dream. Pretty good. Not sure if I like Margo or not. She's a little too wild for my taste! LOL!! Holding the Dream is the second, right? Have to get these read and back to the library before I start on Snowfall at Willow Lake.

   Hey there Debby69

Holding the Dream is 2nd, Living the Dream is 3rd

As in Snowfall, Sophie was not a likeable character in previous books, you will be surprised at the end for Margo and she "grows on you" in Holding the Dream

I'm reading Getting Things Done by David Allen. It's a book on what is a more intuitive and fluid means of time/project management. I pick it up and read pieces of it over and over, but decided it was time to read the entire book end-to-end to refresh myself on the whole of his theory. So far, so good. Now, if I could discipline myself to practice what I'm reading. LOL.

On the fiction end of things, I've read a few books over the last couple of weeks. Most notable was Snowfall. I'm now reading the new Shirley Jump book, but can't remember the title. D'oh!

Oh, isn't the new Shirley Jump a purple book? I have it at home (which is funny because I skipped reading the last book - The Angel who Craved Lobster or something like that). Or do you mean the Christmas one? I almost bought that one and didn't.

I read the Christmas one. It was cute. It's on my PBS list. The purple one came out in February 2007. I think it was called Pretty Bad and it was the last of her food books. This one is called Really Something and has a hot guy on the cover, lol. Here's the synopsis from the back of the book:

GETTING EVEN JUST GOT EVEN BETTER...

They say you can't go home again--and when home is Tempest, Indiana, "Litter Box Capital of the World," who'd want to? Not Allie Dean. She couldn't wait to leave the place that made her feel worthless when she was at her most vulnerable. Eight years later and 170 pounds lighter, Allie's back, scouting locations for an indy flick. It's the perfect opportunity to exact the sweet revenge that comes with looking seriously hot. And the guy who broke her heart just happens to have made himself very available...

Duncan Henry isn't used to being stood up, though the gorgeous blond who just ditched him looks like she does it all the time. Still, Duncan's determined to win the stranger over, if only to get close to someone with no connection to Tempest. The truth is, Duncan hasn't had anyone he could really talk to since Allison left. Yeah, there are plenty of things the ex-jock-turned-weatherman would change if he had the chance--and maybe his chance is closer than he thinks... Now, with Allie getting ready to shoot and Duncan trying to score, something's gotta give. The question is, who will give in first?

Thanks to you, I can stand proud and admit my love for secret baby plots. I hope you enjoy the books!

I'm enjoying Really Something. I'm reading it slower than I normally read books. Things have been so busy lately. I hate busy. But the Husband goes away for a ski trip next weekend so I anticipate a lot of reading time. Yay!
